Why I Twitter…

For almost a year now I’ve been Twittering. Many of you who read this blog are already on the Twitter bandwagon, but for those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, take a look at this video by Common Craft.

I’ve been able to connect with people all over the world who are in similar ministry situations. We share ideas and websites and even songs we’re listening to in the moment. Some of us have even started reading the Bible together. Some people find it as a waste of time… It is called Twitter after all. But for every nonsense post that we write about our days, we also send links to better ourselves and our ministries.

Churches and organizations are also starting to Twitter. Our church is posting events coming up here. When major conferences are happening, people “live Tweet” keynotes and breakouts, making it possible for the community at large to catch a taste of what the speakers are saying. I basically attended Catalyst 2009 by following all of the links and Tweets that people sent over Twitter.

I’ll keep Tweeting. It’s actually a lot of fun, and I’m enjoying the community that’s formed over broadband and 3G networks. If you Tweet, follow me, and I’ll be sure to follow you back!
