Feeling Appreciated? I need your help…

I’ve been thinking about feeling appreciated for an article I’ve got coming up, and I need your help.

When was the last time you felt truly appreciated? What made that act of gratitude stand out in your mind?

Was it verbal recognition? A gift card? A party? A note or kind word? Or something completely out of the box? I’d love to find out!

I need some feedback… let me know you thoughts and leave a comment!

  1. Yeah I really felt appreciate by some words and a small gift given to me recently. Made me feel like I was doing my work right and had truly served a customer well.

  2. I received both verbal and written notes of appreciation for something that I worked hard on for a long time. Also I had a “practical joke” played on me that was related to what I was working on and, while embarassing, it made me feel loved! ( :

  3. We have a coworker who seems to be blessed with the gift of encouragement. I have found a card & a small gift from her on my desk or in my box on several totally random occasions and it always means the world to me. The non-occasion things mean the most because they are spontaneous and not initiated by Hallmark.

  4. I am trying to put this into words. I guess the best way to describe being appreciated is being respected. I don’t like insincere requests i.e. butter me up. Don’t praise me before or after. Just say thank you and treat me with respect on normal occasions.

  5. Last Wednesday, I gave a presentation for a project I have been working on for three months. When I was done, I was about to walk out of the conference room when the people on the other end of the video conference (NY Office) broke into applause.

I have never got that kind of instantaneous feedback at work. In fact, I have never seen that happen. Needless to say, I was pleased beyond all getout.
