Bike Commute Play List

Last week I didn’t ride my bike to work at all. We had just gotten back from vacation, and my appointment and time schedule needed me places faster than the bike would allow.

This week will be different. My in-laws are in town and have the Jeep for the week. Pretty much, I’ll be riding my bike everyday, which honestly will be really good for me. I won’t have to stay on campus and get my room environments completed! September 6 is coming up very quickly!

So… on to this week’s playlist in no particular order:

Plc.4 Mie Haed (Amp Live ft. Zion) | Linkin Park | Reanimation

Linkin Park is always good for a work-out playlist. The Reanimation disk puts LP with some of the great hip-hop producers to make just a great album reinventing some previous tracks. This track is no exception.

Monkey Wrench | Foo Fighters | The Colour And The Shape

Two playlists in a row with the Foos. Monkey Wrench might be an obvious choice, but what can you say. This single just rocks out, and that’s what I need to get me up those hills!

Chaos | MuteMath | MuteMath

Two in a row for these guys too… MuteMath is one of the best bands on Christian radio these days. The chorus on this track just keeps moving. Love it.

Quiet | Smashing Pumpkins | Siamese Dream

I had a conversation with a friend last night at church about the Smashing Pumpkins being used in a trailer for a new movie coming out soon. Scanning through my music, I saw this track and just had to put on.

Set the Fire to the Third Bar | Snow Patrol feat. Martha Wainwright | Eyes Open

For me the jury is still out on Snow Patrol; however I love this song. It has this great build the keeps going right until the end. It’s a stellar track, and the video is pretty sweet too. Check it out:

Down | 311 | 311

OK, with this track, I’m suddenly a freshman in college again. But who didn’t love 311 when this song hit MTV’s 120 Minutes Alt-rock show?! It’s such a great jam!

Shake Shake Tambourine (Black Tambourine) (Adrock Remix) | BECK | Guerolito

Beck is the master album marketer these days, so much so that Wired magazine did a feature when he released The Information which included a make-your-own album cover complete with STICKERS! Guerolito is the companion disk to the Guero album. It contains some killer remixes: “Shake Shake Tambourine” is a perfect example.

Rockin’ The Suburbs | Ben Folds | Rockin’ The Suburbs

Ben Folds performed all of the vocal track on the animated movie Over the Hedge, which my children have been watching 12 times a day for the past week. This song (with slightly different lyrics) is the end-credits track. It’s in my head anyway, might as well be on the playlist while I ride my bike through the suburbs.

Go | Common Feat. John Mayer | Be

Common. What can I say about Common? John Mayer adds some infectious vocals to some great hip-hop. No brainer. It’s on the list this week. (PS Much love to B-Hibma for introducing me to Common.)

Me Myself & I | De La Soul | Three Feet High and Rising

And now I go back to junior high and my early hip-hop influcences. Just a fun track that will go great with a bike commute.

Indestructible | Matisyahu | Youth

I haven’t heard much new from this guy in a while. But Matisyahu is so amazing at what his brand of Jewish Hip-Hop Reggae Fusion (I’m not kidding). The drum-machine has a great back beat that drives a cool rhythm, perfect for the road.

Since U Been Gone | Kelly Clarkson | Breakaway

I know cheesy pop music. Shut up, Kelly Clarkson puts out some great music. This is just fun and adds life to any work-out/bike commute. The video is great when she starts trashing her ex’s apartment. So much fun!

So, that’s the list for the week. What are you listening to  these days?
